Labour Force Participation Rate

working age population-over 15, not in the armed forces, and not living on aboriginal reserve.
Labour force- the sum of all the people employed and all unemployed who are wiling and able to work. Below is who is included in the labour force.
  • Gainfully employed
  • Not on the job due to illness, vacation or strike
  • Laid off withing the last 26 weeks but expected to be recalled
  • Not employed but staring a job in the next 30 days
  • Not employed buy starting a job after graduation (US ONLY)
  • Not employed but seeking employment (in US actively seeking)

Labour force participation rate- the labour force expressed as a percentage of the working age population=# inlabour force/working age population*100
